Anyone publishing projects on BestExperimentIdeas. Publishing is free. These terms apply in addition to the Terms of Service, and the money parts apply once you choose to make a project premium.

How a premium sale is split

A buyer pays the gross sale price. The platform fee is deducted and the remainder is recorded as your earning. The fee depends on your plan at the time of the sale: 20% on the free Explorer plan and 15% while you are a Scientist subscriber. On a USD $20.00 sale that is a USD $4.00 fee (USD $16.00 to you) on Explorer, or a USD $3.00 fee (USD $17.00 to you) on Scientist. The fee covers payment processing, hosting, delivery and platform operation.

Your fee rate is determined by our servers when the sale is created and stored with that sale permanently, so changing plans later never alters an existing payout. Prices must sit between $1 and $99 USD. If the configuration changes, this page and your creator dashboard show the new values.

Selling digital products

  • You can sell two things: premium projects, which unlock your instructions inside the site, and digital products, which deliver files, code, printables or bundles to the buyer as downloads. Both use the same fee, hold and payout rules.
  • Every digital product and every file version is reviewed by our team before it is purchasable. Rejected submissions come back with a written reason.
  • You must own or be licensed to sell everything you upload, and the files must match what your listing promises.
  • Buyers receive a personal-use licence only. Files are stored privately, are never publicly readable, and are delivered through links that expire minutes after they are created.
  • Each buyer has a capped number of downloads per file and per hour, every download is logged with buyer, file and time, and our staff review unusual download activity so a leak can be traced to an account.
  • No digital file can be made uncopyable. We provide deterrence, traceability and support with takedown requests; we cannot guarantee your files will never be shared.
  • You can publish a new version of a file at any time; buyers are emailed and always download the current version.

Getting paid

  • Payouts run through Stripe Connect. You complete Stripe's onboarding — identity and bank details go to Stripe, not to us.
  • Each earning is held for 14 days after the sale before it becomes available. The hold covers refunds and disputes.
  • Available earnings are paid out once your available balance reaches $25 USD.
  • Payouts are made in US dollars.
  • Payout status, pending balance, available balance and history are on your creator dashboard.

We do not promise payout timing beyond the configured hold and minimum. Details are in the Payout Policy.

Refunds, adjustments and chargebacks

If a sale is refunded, the earning attached to it is reversed. If it had not been paid out, it leaves your pending balance. If it had already been paid out, a negative adjustment for the same amount is booked and deducted from your next payout. Card chargebacks are handled the same way once Stripe resolves the dispute. See the Refund Policy.

Your responsibilities as a creator

  • Accuracy: the project must describe what you actually did, with real materials, steps and results.
  • Rights: you must own or be licensed for every image, video, dataset and passage of text you publish.
  • Safety: declare hazards honestly and state the supervision, PPE and conditions a build needs.
  • Support: answer reasonable buyer questions about a premium project you sell.
  • Availability: if you unpublish a premium project, buyers who already paid keep their access.
  • Taxes: you are responsible for reporting and paying any tax on your earnings. We do not provide tax advice, and we do not withhold on your behalf unless a payment provider is legally required to.

If a project breaks the rules

Projects that breach the Community Guidelines or Content Policy can be unlisted or removed. For serious breaches — infringement, fabricated results, unsafe instructions, payment abuse — sales are stopped and pending earnings can be withheld while we review, and refunded to buyers where appropriate.
